Johnson & Johnson: Baby products are safeAmerican personal hygiene company Johnson & Johnson has faxed a statement to some Chinese media outlets to confirm its baby products that are "safe for use on a baby skin," a local newspaper reported. "We have conducted more than 200 safety tests in China to ensure that our products are mild, gentle and safe for use on a baby's sensitive skin," the Beijing Daily Messenger Wednesday quoted the statement as saying. The company said all its products, including baby oil, "meet stringent global standards." In the wake of the scandal of cancer-causing Sudan-I found in KFC food, and the well known cosmetic brand SK-II's hazardous contents, Johnson & Johnson's baby-care products became another sensitive issue to Chinese consumers. Authorities in a western Indian state said last Thursday that they have ordered Johnson & Johnson to drop the "baby" tag from several of its products, claiming they contain harmful oils and chemicals. The newspaper called on the Chinese Ministry of Health and the State Administration for Quality Supervision and Inspection and Quarantine, to confirm any inspection to Johnson & Johnson products. The departments did not comment. Johnson & Johnson, headquartered in the US state New Jersey, has achieved great popularity in China, and its baby products have been widely chosen by many mothers.
