Zhu Zhenzhong elected local CPPCC Chairman of Guangzhou

Zhu Zhenzhong was elected Chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Saturday at the third annual session of the 10th CPPCC Guangzhou Municipal Committee.

The committee accepted the resignation of former Chairman Chen Kaizhi.

Zhu was born in 1946 in Jiangmen, in south China's Guangdong Province. He has served as deputy secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection since 2001.
