Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is to visit several Arab and European countries before his expected visit to the United States in April, official Palestinian sources said Sunday.
The sources said the aim of this tour "is to earn enough support for the Palestinian position before Abbas heads to the White House to meet with US President George W. Bush."
Among the Arab countries that Abbas is scheduled to visit are Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Morocco, probably Syria and Egypt, said the sources.
In Europe, Abbas will visit London, Paris and on his way back from Washington, he will visit Moscow and Ankara, the sources added.
Senior Palestinian officials, experts specialized in politics, economy and finance will accompany Abbas in his visit.
