The China Eastern Airlines Jiangsu Subsidiary announced on Sunday that it will buy five ERJ-145 planes to meet a growing domestic air service demand.
Last Wednesday in Shanghai, the subsidiary signed an 910 million yuan (109.64 million US dollars) agreement regarding the purchase of five ERJ-145 planes with representatives of the Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry Co. Ltd. (HEAI), a Sino-Brazilian air plane production facility based in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
Deliveries are scheduled to start in August 2005 and finish by next April.
The 50-passenger ERJ-145 airliners built in Harbin are under license from the Embraer Company, headquartered in Sao Jose dos Campos in Brazil.
There are now five ERJ-145 airplanes operated by the Sichuan Airlines and six more operated by the China Southern Airlines.
