    Changjiang scholar reward program

    5th Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific

    South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun addresses the opening ceremony of the 5th Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific (MCED) at Lotte Hotel in Seoul, capital of South Korea, on March 28, 2005. Delegates of 53 members of the ESCAP attended the meeting on Monday, of them 23 are ministerial officials. The theme of this years' MCED is "Achieving Environmentally Sustainable Economic Growth in Asia and the Pacific".

    Lisu girl wins championship in Miss Universe finals for Yunnan Region

Yang Yanan, a girl of Lisu nationality won the championship in finals of the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant for China (Yunnan) Region March 28 in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province. Yang Yanan, Yang Yuan and Tang Ling won the champion, runner-up and the third place respectively.

    Reservoirs in Beijing attract swans

    Sino-Japanese joint climbing team enters Qomolangma base camp

    Zhang Jiangyuan (2nd Right), deputy director of the Tibetan Sports Administration held a meeting at the Qomolangma base camp. A total of 49 members of the Sino-Japanese joint climbing team and supporting staffs had entered the Qomolangma base camp on March 27. Heavy wind had blown down four tents in the evening and the temperature was very low. But all members are in good condition.
