China's border port with Kyrgyzstan in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Arkaxtam Port, reopened Monday after a six-day closure amid the current political crisis in Kyrgyzstan.

More than 100 trucks from Kyrgyzstan were blocked by the temporary closure and waiting to roll through the border checkpoint. More than 100 Kyrgyzstan businessmen were stuck on the Chinese side of the pass, which was closed on March 23 at the request of Kyrgyzstan.

The two sides decided to reopen the port after consultation as the situation in Kyrgyzstan gradually stabilized.

China, sharing a more than 1,000-kilometer boarder in Xinjiang with Kyrgyzstan, opened two ports, Arkaxtam and Torugart, both located in Xinjiang, with the Central-Asian country.
