China to invest heavily on rural roads

China will input 100 billion yuan to upgrade its roads linking counties and villages across the country during the period of 11th Five-Year Plan.

As learned from the Nation Development and Reform Commission, by 2010, all villages in east and central China and all towns in west China will be connected by pitch roads.

Surveying and planning will be started at the second half of this year to make the construction at early 2006 possible.

Most counties and villages have pitch roads throughout the country after five years�� efforts. Yet there are 145 towns and 50124 villages which do not have.
