Value of HK's total exports down 5.4 pct in February

The value of Hong Kong's total exports of goods fell 5.4 percent in February over the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department said Tuesday.

According to the department, the value of total exports of goods was 127.5 billion Hong Kong dollars (16.35 billion US dollars).

Within the total, the value of re-exports fell 4.5 percent to 121.3 billion Hong Kong dollars (15.55 billion US dollars), while the value of domestic exports fell 20.4 percent to 6.3 billion Hong Kong dollars (807.69 million US dollars), it said.

In the same period, the value of imports of goods fell 10.9 percent over a year earlier to 137.7 billion Hong Kong dollars (17.65 billion US dollars), it said.

A visible trade deficit of 10.2 billion Hong Kong dollars (1.31billion US dollars), equivalent to 7.4 percent of the value of goods imports, was recorded.
