Wang Jiarui, a senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official, met with visiting Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Petersen Tuesday.

Wang, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of present China-Norway relations and the active role Norway plays in international affairs.

He said China would like to learn from Norway's successful experience in social and economic development when building a harmonious society.

Petersen said the bilateral relations between Norway and China are progressing continuously, and the two countries are carrying out fruitful cooperation in such areas as politics, economy and trade. He hopes his visit to China will further deepen and promote the development of bilateral relations, he said.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
