Jiangsu to invest 15.39b yuan on power grid construction

East China's Jiangsu province plans to invest 15.39 billion yuan (1.85 billion US dollars) this year to develop power grids with length totaling 7,700 kilometers,the provincial power corporation said.

The move is being made to ensure electricity supply across the province during the upcoming peak summer period.

The province will develop 34 projects for power grids of 500 kvand 79 projects for power grids of 220 kv this year, the corporation said.

Transmission lines of the power grids of 500 kv, 220 kv and 35 kv will be built at the lengths of 793 km, 2,508 km and 1,762 km, respectively, the company said.

Nearly a dozen key power projects including power transmission,substations and power expansion items will be launched by the end of this year, the company said, adding that the province invested 14.95 billion yuan (1.8 billion US dollars) on power projects in 2004.
