font size

he Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held a regular meeting of state coordinators council in its secretariat here Wednesday and Thursday, according to sources with the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

SCO Secretary General and participants from all six SCO member countries, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, discussed preparations for the state heads meeting, which is scheduled for July in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan.

The participants also conversed about issues related to the organization's current activities.

All participants discussed developing the organization's external exchanges, including registering as observer of the United Nations General Assembly and establishing cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Before the two-day meeting, the SCO also held expert group meetings on establishing the business council and development fund. Participants largely agreed on principles of establishing these mechanisms.
