China, Germany to promote parliamentary exchanges

Chinese top legislator, Wu Bangguo, said that the National People's Congress would like to further the relationship with the Federal Council of the German parliament.

He told visiting Mattias Platzeck, president of the German Federal Council, that China and Germany have enjoyed sound relationship, and the two countries have the similar view on major international issues.

"The development of Sino-German relations benefits the peoples of the two countries," he said.

He said China and Germany are economically complementary and have great potential for trade cooperation. The two sides should enhance the cooperation on energy resources and environmental protection.

Wu expressed appreciation for Germany's adherence of the one-China policy.

Platzeck, who is also governor of Brandenburg, said that the relations between Germany and China have entered a new stage, and he is visiting China to promote the cooperation between the parliamentary organs as well as the exchanges between local provinces of the two countries.

He said Germany will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.
