One of the 17 miners trapped in Friday's coal mine flooding in Hunan Province was found dead, rescuers said Sunday.

A coal mine in Heye Township, Guiyang County of Chenzhou City, was flooded at 7:50 p.m. Friday after heavy rain poured into the shaft of the mine and 17 miners were stranded underground, according to the local coal mine safety supervision authorities.

Rescuers are still pumping water from underground and searching for the missing.
