Terrorism no alternative to democracy: Nepali king
font size

Nepali King Gyanendra has said that the only alternative to democracy is democracy itself, terrorism can never be an alternative to it.

Nepal is going through a difficult phase due to terrorism, and "terrorism does not have any boundary," Radio Nepal on Tuesday quoted King Gyanendra as saying.

Addressing at a function in the Royal Nepalese Army Military Academy in Bhaktapur municipality of Kathmandu Valley on Monday, the king also noted, the army has been mobilized to "provide security to all the Nepalese suffering from terrorism and safeguard the fundamental rights envisaged in the Constitution."

Established in 1986, the academy has so far rendered training to more than 1,700 officer's cadets and 75 technical officers of the Royal Nepalese Army.
