Su Chin-chiang's paying homage at Yasukuni Shrine strongly condemned

Su Chin-chiang, prominent figure of the "Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU)", a "Taiwan independence" organization, led a delegation to Japan for paying homage at the war-related Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on Monday, which sparks strong criticism from the political circles in Taiwan.

Yu Mu-ming, chairman of the New Party in Taiwan published a news release on April 4 accused the "TSU" of the conduct. Yu Mu-ming pointed out Su Chi-chiang claimed that "the Taiwan soldiers" who are enshrined at the war-related Yasukuni Shrine have "laid down their lives for their country". At that time Japan forced Taiwanese people into service for invading China and other countries. What about the sayings of "laying down their lives for their country"? It is in the hope that the "TSU" will love the Taiwanese people truly, not to become dependency of Japanese militarist forces in Taiwan.

Targeting against the claim by Chen Chien-ming, secretary-general of the "TSU", that "the Taiwanese in the new era should look forward instead of bearing historical hatred in mind forever". Yu Mu-ming also pointed out the "TSU" has placed their hatred of the Chinese who once built and safeguarded Taiwan in mind forever while the "TSU" can forget at any time how many Taiwanese people were killed during the Japanese colonial rule in Taiwan. "Does it show that the 'TSU' loves Taiwan?"

Chang Yung-kung, spokesman for China Kuomintang said the war-related Yasukuni Shrine enshrines Class-A World War II war criminals, the representatives of Japanese militarism. They have negative images in the mind of the Asian people. As chairman of a Taiwan political party Chin-chiang's visit to the Yasukuni Shrine shows that the TSU has respect for Japanese militarism. It will be extremely unfavorable to Taiwan if the "Taiwan independence" forces still hope to collude with the right-wing forces in Japan against the mainland, which should be condemned.

Chang Hsien-yao, director of the policy center of People First Party, said Taiwan is not a Japanese colony. Being as chairman of the Taiwan Solidarity Union Su Chin-chiang went to visit the Yasukuni Shrine, which is a very improper act. The People First Party expresses regret for this.

According to reports by media in Taiwan, aboriginal people public opinion representative Kao-Chin Su-mei went to the "TSU" to express his solemn protest.
