2005 Pulitzer Prizes announced
Columbia University announced April 4, 2005 that San Francisco Chronicle photographer Deanne Fitzmaurice won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography with his work showing an Iraqi war victim drawing with a pencil fixed on his broken arm.

People pay tribute to Chinese martyrs in Nanjing
Students place white flowers at the Memorial Hall for Compatriots killed in the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Forces of Aggression on April 5, at "Qingming", the Chinese traditional "Festival of Pureness and Brightness" to mourn ancestors and deceased relatives. People flocked to the memorial on that day to pay tribute to Chinese martyrs and the 300, 000 compatriots killed by Japanese invaders in the massacre in 1937.
