China improves relocation of three gorges residents
font size

Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan has called on government departments to ensure the resettlement and employment of people affected by the Three Gorges project is improved.

Zeng Peiyan made the remarks at a conference in southwest China's Chonqing Municipality while discussing the relocation of people from the reservoir area to other provinces.

Over 160 thousand rural people have been relocated from the reservoir area to other provinces over the past five years.

The government has provided basic supplies during the resettlement process, and has also improved access to medical care and education.

Launched in 1992, the Three Gorges Dam is the world's largest water conservancy project.
