font size

News from the construction headquarters of the Chongqing-Huaihua Railway says that the last piece of track skeleton was laid quietly at Chongqing Qianjiang Station at 9am on April 6. By then the Chongqing-Huaihua Railway - a key project of the West China development- had completed track laying and a hundred-year dream cherished by people living in Chongqing, Guizhou and Hunan had eventually come true.

The Chongqing-Huaihua Railway is one of the symbolic projects of the West China development. It is 624.523 kilometers long and has a total investment of 19.8 billion yuan. It starts in Chongqing and ends in Huaihua of Hunan province. It is a single-line electrized railway with the condition for future construction of a double-line railway.

As learned the Chongqing-Huaihua Railway will be open and put to operation by the end of 2005.
