Chinese trade union chief meets Swedish counterpart

Chinese trade union chief Wang Zhaoguo met with a delegation from the Swedish Trade Union Confederation on Thursday, vowing to enhance exchanges and cooperation.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, said the enhancement of exchange and cooperation between labor unions worldwide will better serve the rights and interests of laborers.

"That is also good for promoting the sound development of the trade unions and the establishment of the new order of international trade unions movement worldwide, which has encountered challenges and opportunities brought by economic globalization," Wang said.

Wanja Lundby-Wedin, president of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO-Sweden), said that China's development is good for the region and the world and will help improve the rights and interests of laborers.

"LO-Sweden will enhance dialogue, exchange and cooperation with China, especially in safeguarding laborers' interests," she said.

The delegation was here as guest of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU). Wang Zhaoguo is the president of ACFTU.
