Police have concluded a two-year investigation into Portuguese soccer corruption and handed the case file to the public prosecutor's office.
Operation Golden Whistle, which began in March 2003 after a tip-off, centers on payments allegedly made to referees to fix matches in lower divisions.
Newspaper Jornal de Noticias reported Thursday that investigators gathered evidence on about 200 suspects, including officials from clubs, the Portuguese Soccer Federation and municipal councils, referees and businessmen.
The case includes evidence from interviews with 370 people, and more than 100 searches of homes, clubs and offices, wire taps and meetings filmed secretly, the paper said.
The prosecutor's office will examine the case to determine whether to file charges.
