The Nepali government is prepared to act tough on violent agitation by the political parties given that they threaten the security system, a senior official said Friday.
"The government is prepared to seriously deal with violent agitation," Government Spokesman and Communication Minister Tanka Dhakal told the press.
"The government is not talking of clamp down on political activities," he noted, adding, "In fact, the government does not at all see the possibility any stir."
The country is relatively at peace in the aftermath of King Gyanendra's takeover of power on Feb. 1, he revealed.
Meanwhile, leaders of some major political parties said that they would launch peaceful agitation "in order to bring the king into dialogue."
