President of Colombia Alvaro Uribe Velez left the Chinese capital Friday morning for China's economic hub of Shanghai to continue his state visit.

During his stay in Beijing, Uribe, who arrived Wednesday, held talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao, and met on separate occasions with other Chinese leaders Wu Bangguo and Jia Qinglin.

He also witnessed the signing of five documents between Colombia and China Wednesday, aiming at cementing their cooperation.

Besides, he visited the Memorial Hall of Mao Zedong and the Palace Museum, and delivered a speech at the prestigious Beijing University.

This is Uribe's first visit to China after assuming presidency in 2002.
