More than 11,200 Nepalese people lost their lives in conflicts or violence in the past nine years, according to a report issued Saturday in Kathmandu.
Nearly 3,000 Nepalese were killed in violence in the year 2004, shows "Nepal Human Rights Year Book 2005" made public by the Informal Sector Service Center, a local human rights group.
Out of the victims, over 250 people lost their lives due to explosions and landmines laid down mostly by the anti-government insurgents, the report said.
Meanwhile, over 12,000 people were displaced during the year due to the conflicts.
According to the report, an average three Nepalese lost their lives a day due to incidences of violence and counter-violence in the country since the launching of the anti-government insurgency in Febrary 1996.
