Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Wei Jianguo announced in Beijing today that the 7th China Hi-tech Fair would be held in Shenzhen from Oct. 12 to 17 this year.
Wei pledged to make the fair a more specialized showcase of scientific innovations on the information technology, electronics, photoelectron, aerospace, new material and environmental protection in particular.
There will be forums, exhibitions and trade talks during the event. Wei mentioned a special session which was specially designed for elite intellectuals for the hi-tech sector. He said it was an "unprecedented effort in the world" to integrate technology, capital, projects and talents in one platform.
"We are trying to create a world-class, efficient and authoritative international platform", he said confidently.
Overseas delegations and enterprises from HK, Macao, Japan, South Korea, France and other countries and regions have confirmed to be there. It is expected that the fair will receive more than 500,000 visitors.
The host, Shenzhen city, also promised customized service for visitors to facilitate their communication so that their trip there would be effective and productive.
An official with the State Intellectual Property Office said they were considering special actions to improve and secure the IPR protection during the event. A campaign for IPR protection is conducted across the country which will last through the whole year.
Besides the Intellectual Property Office and the Ministry of Commerce, other sponsors of the trade fair include the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Industry, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Personnel, as well the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Shenzhen municipal government. The Ministry of Agriculture is the co-sponsor.
