Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Wei Jianguo said that the five north-east Asian countries, namely DPRK, ROK, Japan, Russia and Mongolia, have been made the largest trade area for China.
He disclosed that in 2004 the foreign trade between China and the five countries accounted for nearly one-fourth of China's total imports and exports. Thus the five countries have become an important trade partner of China, especially its northeast area.
Mr. Wei told this to International Finance News at the press conference on April 11for the 1st Jinlin-Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo which would be held in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province in northeast China from September 2 to 6.
He further highlighted more steps to boost the investment and trade between China and its five northeast Asian partners. Policies, he promised, will be adopted to attract more foreign capital, revive the old industrial cradle in northeast China and further reform and opening-up.
He hopes that the expo would bring more capital and cooperation opportunities from home and abroad which is absolutely needed in the process of rejuvenating the area.
