The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and M-Web have signed a 500 million Zimbabwean dollars (about 80,645 U.S. dollars) agreement which will see the internet service provider construct a website for the country's soccer governing body.
Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, M-Web managing director, Michael Harret said the website would help build a better image for the country's national team, the Warriors.
"Soccer is an international sport which not only brings the continent together but brings the whole region and the world together.
"The website will help uplift the image of the national soccer team," he said.
He said the website would be functional a week later as M-Web officials were still working on it.
Player profiles, upcoming fixtures and various events that ZIFA would be organizing would feature on the website, Harret said.
He said the Internet service provider expected at least 45,000 people to visit its website every week, with between 30 and 40 percent of the visitors from outside the country, a situation commentators said might attract potential sponsors.
Zifa chairman, Rafiq Khan, said the move was of great value to the soccer body.
"This gesture is one great step towards excellent football administration in Zimbabwe," he said.
"Football needs more partnerships of this nature and is a movement which can also give mileage to the sponsors."
M-Web officials and Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze, witnessed the signing ceremony.
Soccer is Zimbabwe's most popular sport.
