Moussa calls for Arab efforts to meet electricity linkage requirements
font size

Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Amr Moussa on Wednesday called on Arab countries to work to meet the requirements of electricity linkage among them, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.

Moussa made the remarks while addressing the inaugural meeting of the sixth session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Electricity.

Arab countries should adopt unified and standardized "systems used in electricity domains, as well as unified terminology used in this sector in Arabic," Moussa was quoted as saying.

Moussa did not explain in details about the Arab electricity linkage, but the Algiers Arab summit last month has adopted a resolution on accelerating the establishment of a monitoring and coordination center for Arab countries already linked by a power grid.

In addition to the just-opened sixth session, the Council of Arab Ministers of Electricity has also decided to hold another meeting to discuss the implementation of the Algiers Arab summit resolution, MENA said.
