Strong earthquake hits Indonesia's Sumatra

A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale rocked Sumatra, Indonesia, at 00:44 a.m. (1644 GMT Saturday) on Sunday, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.

The epicenter was initially determined to be over the seas near Sumatra, Indonesia (1.9 north latitude, 97.6 east longitude), about 220 kilometers south-southwest of Medan.
