An official from Egyptian Meteorological and Geophysics Institute said a slight earthquake hit Cairo Saturday evening, causing no damage, the Egyptian MENA news agency reported.
Anas Othman Ibrahim, Chairman of the institute said only dwellers of high floors could feel the tremor.
The epicenter of the quake was 10 kilometres beneath the earth, some 57 kilometres southeastern Cairo, with the direction to the Red Sea, an area known for its several slight earthquake activities.
Sources of the institute said the tremor reported earlier measured 4.2 on the Richter scale.
