Bangladesh-Qatar sign MoUs to expand cooperation

Qatari Emir Shaikh Hamad Bin-Khalifa Al-Thani, left Dhaka Saturday concluding his two-day visit to Bangladesh during which the two countries signed MoUs to expand cooperation in economic, trade and information.

The two countries signed the MoUs (Memorandum of understanding) after formal talks between Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and the Qatari Emir Friday, according to the official news agency BSS Saturday.

In the official talks, the two sides expressed the hope that this would open up a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.

Qatar delegation promised to import from Bangladesh more manpower, cement and assured Bangladesh of more investment, technical assistance and cooperation in many other fields.

The Qatar delegation also assured Bangladesh of helping exploring mineral resources, particularly gas. The country has plenty of gas.
