font size

A coalmine blast Friday night left at least four dead and one missing in north China's Hebei province, said sources from the Hebei Administration of Work Safety on Saturday.

Sources said the gas explosion occured at 11:00 p.m. in the No.1 shaft of the Xiahuayuan Xinglong Mountain coalmine in the Zhangjiakou City and about 13 miners were working underground then. Eight of them fled successfully.

Rescuers are still searching for the missing miner. Investigation into the accident was on the way.
