No agreement achieved on Russian bases in GeorgiaThe recent Russian-Georgian negotiations have not yielded any agreement regulating the withdrawal of Russia's military bases from Georgia, the Interfax news agency said on Saturday, quoting Russian Foreign Ministry. "In spite of our constructive steps aimed at accommodating the needs of the Georgian party, no agreement was achieved on the key aspects of this document, as Tbilisi put forward more conditions," said a press release by the ministry. The negotiations took place in Tbilisi on April 14-15. The Russian side confirmed its readiness to pull out its military bases from Georgia and suggested a timeframe for the withdrawal, the ministry said. Russia also suggested a mechanism for the military bases' step-by-step withdrawal, which, among other factors, envisions pulling out weapons and military hardware as a priority, the Interfax cited the release as saying.
