Abbas: Election will be on time

Mahmoud Abbas says the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in July will not be postponed.

Abbas made the announcement after meeting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Sharam el-Sheikh on Sunday.

He told reporters they Palestinian Authority had no intention or desire to delay the elections.

Qadoura Fares, a Palestinian law maker, said on Saturday that the paliarmentary election is likely to be postponed.

Islamic militant group Hamas has threatened that if the election is postponed, they will not join the electoral campaign, and will not abide by the March cease-fire.
