CPC official urges improvement of Sino-Japanese relationship

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Sunday called for joint efforts from both China and Japan to improve their relations.

"We hope that Japan will, in a spirit of learning from the past to look forward, take responsibility for its history and take a positive and enterprising approach to improving Sino-Japanese relations along with efforts from China," said Wang, when meeting with Hiranuma Takeo, former international trade and industry minister of Japan visiting China,

He said China attaches importance to Sino-Japanese relations and will promote that according to its foreign policy toward neighboring countries, which is characterized by friendship and the treatment of neighbors as partners.

"It's the common task of political leaders in both of our countries to push forward Sino-Japanese relations," Wang said.

Takeo said that Japan-China relations are very important to the two countries and Japan will enhance exchanges with China in all fields to forge a friendly and peaceful relationship.
