"By the end of March 2005, four major financial assets management companies have totally disposed 688.55 billion yuan bad assets, with the cash accumulatively retrieved amounting to 140.89 billion yuan, accounting for 20.46 percent of the total non-performing assets handled," announced China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) on Apr. 18.
According to CBRC, China Huarong Asset Management Corporation has accumulatively disposed 214.44 billion yuan worth of bad assets and retrieved cash 42.57 billion yuan, yielding 19.85 percent of the total bad assets handled; China Great Wall Asset Management Corporation has disposed 213.61 billion yuan bad assets and retrieved cash 22.24 billion yuan, making up 10.41 percent of the total; China Oriental Asset Management Corporation has totally disposed 106.79 billion yuan bad assets and retrieved cash 24.39 billion yuan, accounting for 22.82 percent of the total bad assets; and China Xinda Asset Management Corporation had accumulatively disposed 153.71 billion yuan bad assets and retrieved cash 51.71 billion yuan, taking up 33.64 percent of the total bad assets.
