Nepali King Gyanendra has said that the takeover of power on Feb. 1 was a considered conduct, forand with the aspirations and will of the people.
"The Nepalese clearly had a one point aspiration -- peace, and Feb. 1 was fallout of these accumulating aspirations," the king said in an exclusive interview with the US magazine Time, which was quoted by local media on Tuesday.
The political parties need to come forward with their perceptions on four things -- fight against rebels, fight against corruption, fiscal discipline, and strengthen the bureaucracy to make it more result, people and service oriented, the king noted.
"If we are clear in these four things, then we can discuss the methods and systems to achieve peace," King Gyanendra argued.
"Perseverance, honesty and moral values must be part and parcel of our daily lives," the king said, adding "Peace must be given a chance. Peace must reign".
