font size

The establishment of a strategic cooperative partnership will provide a "guideline" for relationship between China and Indonesia, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Tuesday at a regular conference.

Chinese President Hu Jintao will pay state visits to Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines from April 20 to 28. He will also attend the 2005 Asia-Africa summit and activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Bandung Conference at the invitation of Indonesian President Susilo and South African President Thabo Mbeki.

According to vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei at a Monday news briefing, during his stay in Indonesia, Hu and Susilo will sign a joint declaration to announce the formal establishment of China- Indonesia strategic cooperative partnership. The two sides will also discuss expanding their cooperation in the fields of trade, technology and telecommunications.

"We believe the establishment of China-Indonesia strategic cooperative partnership will provide a guideline for the two countries' relationship," Qin said.

China and Indonesia, both major countries in Asia and big developing countries in the world, share extensive common grounds and common interests, he added.
