Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will make a six-day trip from April 28 to India, Pakistan, Luxembourg and the Netherlands and meet with leaders of each country as well as the European Union (EU), Kyodo News reported Wednesday.

In India, the first leg of his trip, Koizumi is expected to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on April 29.

They are expected to discuss improving economic ties between the two countries and how and to what extent India should be involved in a plan to form an East Asia Community, which has been discussed at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

On April 30, Koizumi will meet Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz separately in Islamabad to discuss cooperation in countering terrorism.

On May 2, Koizumi will meet for talks with Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker. Shortly after the talks, Koizumi, Juncker and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso will hold a regular Japan-EU summit.

Koizumi will be the first Japanese prime minister to visit Luxembourg, which currently holds the rotating EU presidency.

Koizumi will briefly visit the Netherlands in the afternoon of May 2 to meet with Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende before returning home on May 3, Kyodo said.
