Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met Wednesday with Francisco Javier Rojo Garcia, president of the Spanish Senate.
China and Spain have maintained sound relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties, and the good momentum has kept going on since the new administration of Spain took power, Wu said.
He said both China and Spain are important countries of the world, and furthering their bilateral ties is in the interest of the two countries, benefiting world peace and development.
Wu particularly mentioned that the two sides should expand cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as promote consultations in regional and international affairs.
On relations between the NPC and the Spanish Senate, Wu said it has contributed to the relationship of the two countries, calling upon the two sides to further the exchanges at all levels.
Rojo said the Spanish government and parliament attach importance to relations with China, and will work with China to push forward bilateral ties.
