Two Americans killed in attack on Baghdad airport road
font size

A suicide car bomb exploded near a convoy of civilian vehicles on the main road to Baghdad airport on Thursday, killing two Americans working for a US company, a police source said.

A civilian car was damaged and its Iraqi driver wounded, the source told Xinhua.

The American embassy in Baghdad has not confirmed the incident.

US troops sealed off the scene and helicopters flew over the area as plumes of thick smoke rose from the destroyed vehicle.

The road leading to the Baghdad International Airport is one of the most dangerous in Iraq. A suicide bomber killed three people, including an American humanitarian worker and a French earlier this month on the road.
