CPPCC chairman meets with Spanish Senate president

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met in Beijing Wednesday with Francisco Javier Rojo Garcia, president of the Spanish Senate.

Jia said China and Spain have kept high-level visits in recent years. The bilateral political trust has been improved and cooperation in the economic, trade, and educational fields has been fruitful, he said.

China and Spain face a good opportunity to further develop the bilateral ties, he said, adding that China would like to push forward the good relationship along with Spain through such channels as the China-Spain Forum.

He said the CPPCC would like to strengthen cooperation with the Spanish Senate in a bid to make contribution to the friendship between the two countries.

Jia expressed appreciation for Spain's adherence to the one-China policy.

Rojo said a Spain-China friendship group has been established in the Spanish Senate to promote exchanges between the legislative organs, and the Spanish Senate hopes to further the relations with the CPPCC.
