China calls for intensifying supervision over production safety
font size

China's State Council, the cabinet, issued a notice in Beijing Thursday requiring government departments and businesses to ensure production safety in the coming week-long Labor Day holiday.

The notice, issued by the General Office of the State Council, required government departments at various levels to enhance supervision of production safety and business to examine and maintain production equipment and watch over production involving possible danger round the clock during the Labor Day holiday that falls between May 1 and 7.

Stressing production safety in the coal mining industry, the notice ordered local governments to send supervision team to inspect and monitor coal mine production and require coal mines to be closed for renovation once major problems are detected.

It also demanded local governments to improve law enforcement over irregularities in transportation, production, storage, transportation, use and dispose of dangerous chemicals as well as management of travel or entertainment activities during the week.
