The World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) will hold its annual conference and forum in Beijing from June 8 to 10, said the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) Thursday.
It is the first time for UCLG, the largest world organization of local governments, to convene its world council conference and theme forum in China since its foundation.
UCLG has more than 1,000 member cities in more than 120 countries, as well as over 60 members of local governments. It is the largest united organization of local governments in the world.
An official with CPAFFC said the meeting and forum will be sponsored by CPAFFC. More than 500 participants including UCLG's high-ranking officials and officials from China's provincial and city governments as well as some renowned entrepreneurs will join the meeting.
They will discuss city calamity prevention and crisis management, and explore the ways of city development in accordance with Chinese conditions, the official said.
