17 bodies found in mine gas blast in Turkey

Bodies of 17 workers have been found in a collapsed coal mine in western Turkey.

An engineer and 16 miners were trapped deep underground when a methane gas explosion ripped through the coal mine in the western Turkish province of Kutahya.

Rescuers were impeded by the blaze when trying to reach the 17 people.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
