Shanghai has had rocketing growth in recent years and a lot of the city's experience is worth learning for France, visiting French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin said when he arrived in Shanghai on the third leg of his three-day official visit to China, on Friday evening.
Raffarin made the remark in his meeting with Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng. He said France and China should learn from each other and forge joint projects to resolve the issues of city development planning, energy and transportation.
Han said that China and France have established cooperation in various fields, and that Shanghai welcomes French enterprises to invest and establish businesses in the city in sectors like water pollution treatment and rail transportation.
Besides meeting with Shanghai mayor, Raffarin also attended an activity commemorating the Year of France in China.
Raffarin arrived in the Chinese capital Beijing Thursday morning and is due to leave Shanghai Saturday at the end of his China visit, the second since 2003.
