China and Germany are ready to strengthen cooperation between their women organizations, women leaders from the two countries said here Friday.
Gu Xiulian, president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met a women delegation led by Ursula Maennle, vice-president of Hanns-Seidel Foundation of Germany here Friday.
Gu, also vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, said ACWF has had close cooperation with Germany's governmental and non-governmental woman organizations for a long period, adding the frequent high-level exchanges and close parliamentary contacts have contributed much to the cooperation.
Maennle said she is impressed by the progress of Chinese women has achieved since the Fourth World Conference of Women, an event held in Beijing in 1995. She said she hopes to strengthen communication and boost cooperation with the Chinese side.
Gu also praised the work Hanns-Seidel Foundation has done for Chinese women. The foundation of Germany's Christian Social Union have provided vocational skills and small loans to women and girlsin poor areas of China.
