A motorcycle rally was held Saturday in central Nepal to mark the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China.
"Some 500 businessmen with 300 motorcycles took part in the rally organized by Nepal Trans-Himalaya Border Trade Association, a non-governmental organization of Nepal which has trade relations with China only," Durga Bahadur Shrestha, president of the association, told Xinhua after completion of the rally.
The rally started from Khoolamunch in the center of Kathmandu Valley, passed through a section of Araniko highway, the only highway linking Kathmandu with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, and concluded at Dhulikhel, the headquarters of Kavreplanchok district.
The rally covered some 30 km distance in a section of the Araniko Highway. Each motorcycle in the rally was carrying the national flags of Nepal and China.Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Sun Heping said at the inauguration ceremony, "The traditional and cooperative relations existing between the two countries will pass on from generation to generation with the help of such activities."
Many organizations are celebrating with various programs the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China. The two countries established diplomatic relations on August 1, 1955.
