The International Engineering Management (EM) Forum, sponsored by the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP), the School of Continuing Education of Tsinghua University and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, was held Saturday in Beijing.
As China's economy develops and the opening up deepens particularly after the accession into the WTO, establishing industrial production management system in line with international standards and training trained personnel with high quality have become key to development and participation in international competition for Chinese enterprises.
With the theme - China's Engineering Management In Line With International Standards, the aim of the forum is to promote the engineering management of China's industries such as mechanical, steel and iron, chemical, petroleum, electronic and software industries; raise Chinese companies' competitiveness in the international market.
On the form the development and application of engineering management in developed countries such as the US were introduced, standard international industrial EM methods and systems were discussed and the enterprises, EM system and personnel training in China were expected to learn from these experience.
Nearly 30 experts attended the forum. They were from countries and regions such as the US, Australia, Switzerland, Turkey, Canada, Saudi Arabia, S. Korea and China' Hong Kong as well as companies like the IBM and GE. Domestic competent departments, enterprises and academic circles also sent representatives to the forum.
