font size

A women delegation led by Hong Kong's Women's Commission (WoC) and the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau left for Beijing Sunday to attend the mainland and Hong Kong Joint Events in Celebration of "Beijing+10."

The celebration scheduled on April 25 and 26 is to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the "Beijing Platform for Action."

Co-organized by the WoC, the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau and the All-China Women's Foundation, the events include a seminar, visit and tour programs.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region delegation is led by the chairperson of the WoC, Sophie Leung.

The United Nations "Fourth World Conference on Women" was held in September, 1995 in Beijing, during which the "Beijing Declaration" and "Beijing Platform for Action" were adopted. The Platform aimed to empower women to participate in economic, social, cultural and political decision-making.
