South Korea has warned Pyongyang against carrying out a nuclear weapons test, saying it would only push DPRK further into isolation.

South Korea Foreign Minister Ban Ki-Moon made the comments after the Wall Street Journal reported that Washington was concerned a DPRK nuclear test could be in the works.

Ban Ki-moon told a seminar that if DPRK takes reckless measures such as a nuclear test, it will be isolated further from the outside world with no guarantee for its future.

He said nuclear weapons will not guarantee DPRK's security but deepen its political and economic isolation.

He also urged DPRK to resume six-party talks which are aimed at dismantling the country's nuclear program.

Ban Ki-moon added that the meeting between South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan and DPRK's No.2 leader Kim Yong-nam in the Asian-African summit meeting in Jakarta will be an opportunity for resuming inter-Korean dialogue.
